Crisp.

I can't remember the last time it felt like a real cold winter in Los Angeles but it is now (although this is only a sign of impending global warming that is real) and I intend to soak up those gloomy clouds and crisp winds with loved ones.

A couple weekends ago when my dad and I took a little road trip up to Cupertino to pay our respects to my grandma.
We miss you.

The rain filled up the dry sad-looking basins along the 152 and you can't help but breathe a deep sigh of relief seeing nature return to its intended form.
(even amidst the gloom)

I loved having a whole day with him... these are the moments life is made of. (truly)
I can't remember the last time we spent that much time together just talking or riding in silence.
Love you dad.

= = =

We have about 3 months before our big day so lately we've been tying up some random to-do list items that are popping up.
It was a moment for us to come downtown and grab some breakfast.

Croissant + coffee courtesy of Document Cafe

This past weekend I was feeling some cabin fever at home so it was time for a walk out on the beach with DH.

I recall spending hours on the 405 in traffic just trying to inch my way to the beach when I was in high school
But now that I live nearly 5-10 minutes from the beautiful beaches here in LA, I never go.
My 16 year old self would be so ashamed!

I hope wherever you are, you take the time to go see some body of water near you.
Looking out onto any horizon that isn't buttoned in helps force some perspective on how little we (and our problems) may be.
Deep breath.

Milan Fashion Week Faves

Milan was a delight!
From what we could gather, red will be big this Fall.
Texture too.

Max Mara's lush colour and velour

Yes yes and YAS to Gucci!

It was so good.

These red Fendi boots will be a thing

Yellow will be present too!

A visual feast!

Part deux will be coming shortly as Paris Fashion Week happens.
Meep!
They always save the best for last...

Friday Five.

A lot of folks in my inner circle have been cursing the rain but I for one am loving it.
I took a short trip to Cupertino last weekend (update is coming!) and seeing the lakes all filled up again and the lush greenery along the highway was refreshing and brought back memories of my childhood when those drives were my favorite getaways.

So this week, I am still grateful for the rain...

Day dreaming (always) of those high ceilings and generous windows letting that natural light pour in... I'd never leave.

Finally watched Moonlight and oh my.
Brilliant brilliant brilliant.

Milan Fashion Week is in full swing and it is fun this year! Loving it. Will be showing my faves shortly.
And it is true... the men do just casually dress like this all over Italy.
The best dressed man I saw while on holiday there was a man casually on a train falling asleep to a book.

Well. It's just been a week of cramming a lot of writing and a lot of activities in-between. At times, adulting can get overwhelming and you start to question just about everything.
But it is safe to say, we're all going to be okay.

Enjoy your weekend friends.

Mid-week BBQ.

After exploring LA and downtown eateries for the past decade, I have finally forayed into the west side for sweet spots to enjoy with friends:

This week was a little visit to Maple Block Meat Co. with Cindy

Warm buttery corn bread

Half pound brisket and sausage

Honestly, I just came for the mac & cheese

and of course... dessert

gooey chocolate bread pudding
(very rich chocolate)

Alright friends, we're almost at Friday.
I hope your week has been enjoyable at the very least.

London Fashion Week Faves.

London Fashion Week always seems the most subdued out of all the rounds but it isn't without its gems:

Kind of looks like Michael Kors from a few seasons ago but... meep!

Fun fun House of Holland!
I'm feeling that diner vibe.

Everyone wants it to be New Years so they can wear some of this Christopher Kane.
I'm a sucker for sequins and shine so this was truly fun to see.
Plus their shoes were also glittery!! My inner 6-year-old is gleefully happy.

Burberry's always solid.
I can see all of this hitting the streets immediately.
And from the looks of it, they're all already available in stores so... $!

And Mary Katrantzou's Disney Fantasia theme collection and shapes!
These are the types of shows where I wish I had a reason to wear these outrageously grand pieces...

Milan is already tantalizing and I can't wait to recap!

Trending.

We all have a few of those jackets we keep tucked behind our everyday essentials that we save for our just-in-case moments.
Just-in-case I travel to a temperature appropriate region.
Just-in-case it comes back in style again.
Just-in-case I can fit into it again.

What have you... I am guilty of hoarding a shearling fur-trim jacket and thank goodness because look what is trending all over the streets of the globe...

From bomber jackets to leather jackets, it's all here and it's fantastic.

And my favorite (up there) denim

{Photo source: Tumblr}

So if you're like me and you have a good one of these stashed in the back of your closet, now is the time to pull it out.
Especially with the LA weather being particularly generous with the cold this year.

This week.

This week of February is always full of lurv due to Valentine's Day and my big sister's birthday.
Both events were so delightful...

First, shoutout to DH for delivering on the flower front.
This bouquet is beyond.

Just beyond... thank you.
{Flowers from here}

For dinner, we went to Kali for their tasting menu:

This man and his cowlick are everything to me.
Happy Valentine's Day.

The best foie gras I've ever had my friends.

I'm never sure if we're supposed to eat those pretty flowers... but I do.

Black barley risotto oh me oh my.

Steak.

Beautiful and tasty chocolate dessert - love the display.

All I need. Dinner and flowers.
Fin.

My big sister Jennifer has been working on her side hustle with a passion and I had the treat of paying her a visit on her day of birth...

You can check out her work and prints here.

As we're getting older just a simple dinner with our loved ones seems to be more than enough.
It was a delightful time. I love you so much.
Happy birthday.

The birthday girl in all her glory!
(and that cheesecake tho)

The parental units.

And us.

Have a fantastic weekend friends.
